Schedule Changes

I have just a few updates for you!  First, I will be out of the office from January 20-February 9. I am thrilled to be headed for the vacation of a lifetime and will be flying to Argentina and then boarding a ship to Antarctica!  I’m going with a theatre friend and an old librarian chum from our days together in ARSL.

Obviously, this means a few schedule changes. As I’ve been trying to get things done before I leave, my January schedule is pretty packed with travel and presentations. I aim for a “zero inbox” before I go on vacation, so I will try to get answers for whatever you need before I go.  I probably will not have access to email while I’m gone, so if you need immediate help, please call one of the other consultants in the Library Support Network, you can find contact info here:  Staff Directory

Accreditation

Don't forget, those of you in the FY 24 accreditation cycle, that the application is due Feb 28, 2023!  You should have received a reminder notice from Scott Dermont telling you if you need to apply this year.  See the State Library Website for more information. I'll be happy to answer any questions when I get back.

STEM Fairs and Summer Reading Summit

Misty, Janee and the CE team are hard at work getting ready for a two day youth extravaganza!  We piloted an all day STEM fair, pre-Covid and are now taking the show on the road. This two day event will also include an in-person workshop about summer reading. In the Southeast District, it will be held in Coralville on March 27 and 28, so mark your calendars and plan to attend!  There will be much more information coming soon. I am also still looking for librarians to present about any STEM related project or program you have going, so please contact me if you are interested and I'll give you more information.

Other News

Because I will be gone, there will be no Open Forum in January, watch for it to return on February 17 at 9:00.

And, just a heads up-the district consultants will be getting new phone numbers shortly, so please keep an eye out for those and remember to change my contact info.

Finally, even though I won't be helping this year, since it takes place while I'm gone, the Iowa Library Online Conference (ILOC) will be all day on January 26.  There are lots of great keynote speakers and you can hear from Iowa librarians about projects they are working on. To get all the information and registration link, check out the ILOC webpage and IaLearns.

See you in February!
