No Friday Forum this week

As noted last month, I will be in Chattanooga for the Association for Rural & Small Library Association annual conferece.  We have around 40 Iowa librarians going this year, so I hope to see some of you there! Because of that, I have had to cancel our September Friday Forum.

Our next Friday Forum will be on October 21 at 10.

Annual Training Opportunity

Learning Circuit: Disaster Preparedness

Local, State, and National experts come together in this hybrid event designed to give those working in Iowa libraries additional tools, support, and planning as they think ahead to future, potential disasters.

All communities were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, not to mention other disasters or trying events that have impacted many of us. This day-long event is designed to introduce you (library directors, staff, and trustees) to basic concepts of emergency management, get you connected to local and state partners who can help when disaster strikes, and assist your team (however large or small it is) in thinking through how your library should respond if the worst happens.

Following the Oct. 20 event, attendees will receive a series of follow up emails and invitations for additional CE webinars in November and December to provide support and guidance in working through the process initiated at the Learning Circuit. By the end of the year, attendees will have a complete Disaster Preparedness Plan in place for their library.

Date: Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022 | 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Librarians can earn 4 CE credits for attending the Learning Circuit.

You can find more information and the link to register on the State Library Continuing Education website.
