Don't Miss Out on Christmas at Terrace Hill

Governor Kim Reynolds and First Gentleman Kevin Reynolds are both looking forward to opening their home for Christmas at Terrace Hill on Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 pm.

Kids and the young-at-heart will find a wonderful holiday experience complete with free photos with Santa Claus and a reindeer, Christmas cookies, music provided by Central College carolers, and other fun activities like ornament-making and a scavenger hunt! The first and second floors of the Residence will be open for self-guided tours, and tour docents will be onsite to answer any questions about the historical house.

Later in the afternoon, the Governor will do a reading of a Terrace Hill Christmas story, No Company for Christmas, written and illustrated specifically for the event.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Terrace Hill Partnership, the non-profit organization that supports necessary conservation and restoration projects at Terrace Hill. Last year’s event raised over $4,000 that went toward the upkeep of the historical landmark.

Tour Terrace Hill This Holiday Season

The Terrace Hill office is busy with requests for tours to see the Residence in all its holiday splendor. If you won’t be able to come to our Christmas at Terrace Hill event, consider reserving a guided tour during our regularly scheduled tour hours. Tours are offered Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10:30 am and 12:00 pm. All visitors are required to make a reservation at least 48 hours in advance. To make a reservation for a Terrace Hill tour, call 515-281-7205. Admission is $5 for adult guests and $2 for guests ages 6-12. Admission is free for children ages 5 and under. We only accept cash or check for admission so please plan your visit accordingly.

Terrace Hill will be closed December 23-26 and December 31 in observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays. The last available tour date for this year is Friday, December 30. Terrace Hill is closed for tours in January and February for cleaning and maintenance.
