Texas Democrats Observe the First Anniversary of Allen Mall Mass Shooting

Government and Politics

May 6, 2024

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“One year ago on May 6th, an armed Neo-nazi entered the Allen Premium Outlet Mall with a weapon of war and a mission to slaughter innocent Texans. Friends, family and loved ones suffered the loss of eight lives that day while the seven injured Texans are forever wounded by this traumatic event.

“As long as extreme Republicans like Ted Cruz do nothing to keep weapons out of the hands of dangerous individuals – these tragedies will continue to wreak havoc in Texas. Ted Cruz voted against the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which made the first real progress on gun safety in decades. He will never be part of the solution and that’s why we need to fire him in November.

“Today, we say to the Allen community: we will never forget what happened on May 6, 2023, and we will always work to make our communities safer so that no life is lost to senseless acts of gun violence.”
