The City of Napa to Seeks Community Input on Parking Program

On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 4 p.m., in the Napa City Hall Council Chambers, the City of Napa will host the first Park Napa Community Meeting to discuss the new paid parking program development in Downtown Napa and the Oxbow District. The community-wide meeting follows the establishment of the Downtown Parking Management Plan, the City’s strategic plan in ensuring efficient use of the parking supply and enhanced maintenance and security.

Date: Wednesday, January 25, 2023
Time: 4 PM
Location: Napa City Hall, Council Chambers: 955 School Street, Napa

The new program seeks to address the misalignment of parking utilization in Downtown Napa. The observations included in the Downtown Parking Management Plan show that a large quantity of long-term parkers use a significant portion of the short-term spaces and stay longer than the time limits or move from one time-limited space to another without penalty. When the convenient short-term spaces are continuously full, short-term parkers seeking a space to run a quick errand tend to leave the area if they cannot quickly locate a space near their destination.

“It is our priority to develop a parking system in which residents and visitors have easy access to our Downtown and Oxbow District shops,” said Parking Manager Tony Valadez. “We are confident that the new program will lead to a more streamlined shopping experience, whether customers are looking to run a quick errand or spend an extended amount of time browsing different storefronts.”

At the meeting, residents can expect to learn more about an overview of the parking program, parking data report results and an online parking survey. In addition, the City invites the community to discuss their concerns about parking in Downtown and the Oxbow District and provide any additional feedback on the process of updating the parking program.

During this implementation period, there will be more opportunities for the public to participate. The City plans to host additional Park Napa Community Meetings in the next couple of months, as well as a learning event in early April, before rolling out the program later this year.
