From: The Ely Center of Contemporary Art

The Ely Center is delighted to announce that artist Aimée Burg has joined as its new Gallery Coordinator. Aimée holds a BFA from Pratt and MFA from Yale (both in Sculpture) and is a builder and developer of objects, people, and communities. She spent a decade as co-director of Art Lot, an outdoor exhibition space in Brooklyn. She has also dedicated much time to education, most recently in early-childhood education and is the founder of the nature-based Zero Foot Hills artist residency, in Durham CT. She begins in her new role September 1.

As one of her first projects, Aimée will curate a fall pilot “Keyhole Residency” to activate the top floor of the Ely House as workspaces for artists. This pilot will help Ely Center better understand the needs of artists working in the building, and how it can support a residency program that is rewarding and transformative. An exhibition of the work produced during the residencies will open in late November.

Please join us on September 10th for the opening of the fall season at the Ely Center to meet Aimée, along with new Board Members. The exhibition eMotion features fresh takes on illustration, sequential narratives, and video and is curated by Arts Workforce Initiative Fellow Rebekah Church, and Yale President Public Service Fellow Xinyi Liu. A reception takes place 3-5pm.
