On June 3 from 10 to 4, the historic Shady Lea Mill will again open it’s doors for our Spring Open Studios Tour. Situated on the scenic Mattatuxet River in North Kingstown, we house over 40 artists and artisans working in various media.  Some of Rhode Island’s most gifted people open their doors to the public and offer a wide array of hand made local gifts.  Featured will be one of a kind Pottery, Sculpture, Weaving, Spinning, Rug Hooking, Painting, Mixed Media Collage, Glass Blowing, Photography, Jewelry Design, Sewing and Quilt Making and Woodworking.  Classes are offered in Rug Hooking, Painting, Pottery, Sewing and Quilt Making.  

Back again this year is the absolutely gorgeous jewelry of Petri Kymlander, the antique clocks of Rich Fyans and our busy Donna Thompson, still making things with a bit of a “twist”. This year we will also be featuring several new additions to our "old timers"  Newbies this year are Painters, Ann O’Brien, Gloria Dahl and Marisa Lonkart. Lynn Murphy is back! The gifted artist of so many talents.  The Shady Birds Potters welcomes new partner,Theresa Nelson.  Wander thru the historic hallways of the Shady Lea and enjoy meeting the artists, watching demonstrations and be prepared to be amazed. As always, The Shady Lea continues to be home to an artistic magic that permeates through every Studio.  While admission is free,  the artists of Shady Lea Mill are asking guests to bring a non-perishable food items for the North Kingstown Food Bank.   Collection bins will be placed at every point of entry. This year we ask you to bring personal product that are not covered by food stamps such as toothpaste, soap, feminine products.
