Volunteer for TREES FOR BLOOMFIELD Tree for Free Community Project

The TREES FOR BLOOMFIELD Tree for Free Community Project is moving along right on schedule.  1557 postcards were mailed at the beginning of June to residents living in the 4 census tracts targeted for tree planting because of the sparse tree cover.  80 trees were available on a first-come first-serve basis to those bringing their postcards to Bloomfield Leisure Services.  By Tuesday June 7th, all 80 trees were reserved.  The trees have been ordered. They will be 5’ to 7’ in a manageable size for planting by hand. They will be planted in early fall.  Protecting our environment by planting trees is no longer a luxury, it’s becoming a necessity.

We are looking for volunteers to join the TreeKeepers Tree Force.  Help us plant the 80 trees for and with your neighbors who live in areas in Bloomfield where the tree canopy is thin.  Different volunteer tasks are available – from being part of a tree-planting crew, to helping assemble the “tree kits” that are part of the project.
