Weekly Update from the First Selectman - August 19, 2022

We have received several emails about Fall soccer sign ups. Fall Youth Soccer registration for pre-k (ages 3-4) through grade 5 is taking place now until September 2nd. You can register at this link. The season begins on September 17th and ends on October 29th. Our Parks and Recreation Department is also looking for volunteer coaches. If you are interested in becoming a coach, please email [email protected] or [email protected].

The Town's Economic Development Commission encourages our business owners and professionals as well as Town commission members to take a short survey by our regional council of governments (RiverCOG). RiverCOG and its member towns are developing a comprehensive economic development plan which will ensure the region is eligible for federal funds that support economic development projects. RiverCOG wants your input on growth opportunities along the Connecticut River Valley which includes Old Lyme. You can take the quick RiverCOG survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C9HZ68D .

On Saturday, August 27th at 10 AM in Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School there will be an Old Lyme Regional Wastewater System Presentation. This is an informational meeting to go over the status of the Old Lyme Shoreline regional wastewater system. Invited guests include Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy and State Senator Paul Formica. Regrettably, State Representative Devin Carney cannot attend. Online questions may be submitted prior to the meeting ([email protected]) and a panel will select questions to be answered at the meeting. In the interest of time, there will be no questions from the audience. To view the agenda for this presentation, please click here.

Lyme-Old Lyme schools head back into session next week and I send my best wishes for a successful, healthy, enjoyable school year.
