Town of Scituate - A Message From Emergency Management

Government and Politics

December 26, 2022

From: Town of Scituate

Good afternoon,

We are fortunate to have minimal power outages (173 homes) at this point in the storm. 163 of these outages in the West End are due to a pole cross-arm issue in Norwell. National Grid workers are on scene to get power restored a soon as possible.

We have a bit of a break with the rain & wind now giving the utility companies a chance to get power restored before the rain/snow showers and high winds ramp up again after 2pm. Most of the rain/snow showers will diminish by early evening but gusty winds will prevail through Saturday afternoon. Additional power outages are possible through tomorrow. Keep all your electronics plugged in.

As expected travel was be hindered mid to late morning due to flooding in the following locations: Intersections of Lighthouse & Rebecca Rd, Oceanside Dr., Mill Wharf & Cole Parkway parking areas, in front of St. Mary’s Church, Edward Foster Rd., Bailey’s Causeway, & northern Central Ave in Humarock. Be aware the astronomical high will tides continue through Tuesday with localized flooding in the areas we identified, but not as impactful as this morning.

We are expecting temperatures to drop quickly this afternoon as the cold front comes through. This will cause any wet areas to freeze and become dangerous to travel on, by vehicle or walking. Please be cautious if you need to be out.

Stay safe! Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
