Dear {First Name},

The Board of Selectmen Report follows up on topics we shared with you last month and things we've been working on and discussing since then. If you have a specific topic that you want to know more about, feel free to call 860-364-5789 or email me at [email protected].

What's Happened Since Our Last Newsletter-

Broadband Update

Jill Drew and Meghan Flanagan were present at our July 26th meeting to provide an update on Broadband. Comcast has recently come forward with an option to partner with our Town to provide high-speed internet to households currently not served in Town at a cost of $1.6 million dollars.

An informational meeting to discuss this option has been set for Monday, August 15, 2022, at 6pm at Town Hall. Comcast will be present to answer any questions you may have.

Visit the Broadband Task Force website for more details.

Town Hall Parking Lot Planning

At our July 26th meeting we approved the parking lot engineer's most recent pre-project plan to go before the Historic District Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission for further discussion(s); public input is welcome at these meetings.

- Current Plan

- Soil Report

If approved, the project can go out to bid.

Sharon ARPA Funds

The Selectmen began reviewing applications submitted by the ARPA Advisory Committee at our second May meeting. For those interested in the process, ARPA Advisory Committee ZOOM meeting recordings are very informative.

Allocation approved on July 26th:

- H&H Educators, LLC for $21,000.

Affordable Housing

The latest Sharon Housing Affordability Plan. Please review this as we would like to move forward and discuss with Sharon residents. There is a 35-day viewing period for the document posted.

Acoustical Project in the Chapin Conference Room

Things To Be Aware Of-

Selectmen Support Maintaining all Vital Services at Sharon Hospital

Sunday, August 14th, 2022, from 10am to 1pm. Informational meeting/discussion on the Sharon Town Green hosted by Save Sharon Hospital.

Salisbury/Sharon Transfer Station

Up-to-date information is available via the Salisbury/Sharon Transfer Station website.

Sharon Energy & Environment Commission Solar Array Project

Solar Array at Sharon Center School. Town Meeting on August 18th, 2022, at 6pm, Town Hall to discuss and vote on proposed resolution from CT Green Bank.

Per State Statute 8-24, the Planning and Zoning Commission needs to submit a report on the site plan on the project concept and have the developer submit a site plan application, and Town Meeting must authorize the long-term commitment of municipal property to transaction. As the P&Z Commission has conceptually approved the project, Town Attorney DiBella recommended our board set a town meeting. It was noted that if approved, the site plan may need to go to Inland Wetlands Commission for approval.

Sharon Fire Department, Inc. Engine 3

The Sharon Fire Department is currently fundraising to replace Engine 3.
