THE CORNWALL BEARS

A Cornwall Community Art Project

Summer 2022

The Cornwall Bears are in town! 33 painted and decorated plywood cutouts of papa bears, mama bears, and bear cubs can be seen in the centers of Cornwall Village, Cornwall Bridge, and West Cornwall (plus Goldilocks and The Three Bears at our town library).

 Each bear has been painted/decorated by a Cornwallian. Pictures of a few bears are below; pictures of all the bears are here (but seeing them in person is much more fun!).

Voting For Your Favorite Bears

Online voting for favorite bears will begin in August. Those getting the most votes win prizes for their creators and will be revealed at our Newcomers Tea on October 15th.

Raffle Ticket Fundraiser Of The Bears

Also in August we will sell raffle tickets as a fundraiser to benefit a Cornwall charity/organization. Raffle tickets will be sold at the Farmers Markets on Saturday mornings in August, or you can email us at [email protected]and we’ll get arrange to get tickets to you.

The 8th Trinity Gallery Juried Show in Lime Rock.

The Opening Reception is Friday evening July 1 from 5-7 pm.

Gallery hours are on July 2,3,9,10,16,17 from noon to 4 pm.

Fireworks at Lime Rock Park – July 1st

The Rotary Club of Salisbury presents the Lighting Up Lime Rock Fireworks show on July 1!

Join us for a night of celebration of Independence Day & a fantastic display of fireworks.

Gates open at 6:00pm, fireworks to begin ~9:00pm.

Held on the grounds of the Sharon Historical Society at 18 Main Street in Sharon CT, guests to the party and auction will enjoy hors d’oeurves and an open bar, and have the opportunity to bid on cakes designed, baked and donated by your friends and neighbors

Admission is $45.00

Hotchkiss Library 

A community-wide celebration is scheduled for 11am, July 2, 2022. Join us for refreshments, remarks, and a fun art project. If you would like to join in supporting the construction project, we continue to accept gifts. Consider buying a paver to honor a loved one or express how you feel about the Library. We all thank you for the ongoing support of our community.

Litchfield Hills Triathlon

The challenging, highly rewarding Litchfield Hills Triathlon

allows athletes to enjoy the scenic beauty of New Hartford, CT

and the surrounding area in this Olympic distance event.

Start with a 1500m swim in the crystal clear waters of famous West Hill Lake,

among the cleanest fresh water lakes in Connecticut,

followed by a 40K bike course with stunning mountain vistas and

finish with a 10K run on rural back roads.

Paratriathletes and relay teams welcomed.

Fully stocked aid stations on the run. Finisher medals, race t-shirts, post race picnic. Produced by Wilson Endurance Sports.

Lime Rock Park

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is one of the premier sports car racing series in the United States and Canada organized by the International Motor Sports Association or IMSA for short. The series competes at some of North America's most recognized sports car venues, including Lime Rock Park for a summer showdown called the Northeast Grand Prix. The WeatherTech SportsCar Championship features multiple classes of awe-inspiring sports cars racing on the track at the same time, making for seemingly endless passing throughout the race. The majority of the races are timed races of 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Enjoy the best road racing (and the fastest) in the country all while you spend a day at the park with family and friends. Bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic on our grassy viewing areas.
