CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL SURVEYS

Please be advised that in an attempt to protect the potable water supply, the Webster Water Department and a sub-contractor Toomey Water Service is conducting cross connection control surveys over the next several weeks. They will make site visits between 7:00am and 3:00pm to municipal, industrial, commercial, and institutional properties. These inspections are routine and are required by MassDEP cross connection regulation 310 CMR 22.22.

A cross connection is an actual or potential connection between a potable water supply and another source, system or piece of equipment containing non-potable or other substance not of safe sanitary quality for human consumption. Potable water plumbing systems may be contaminated through cross connections unless appropriate backflow prevention devices are installed and maintained.

A certified surveyor will conduct an inspection of your property for potential cross connections and a completed survey report will be mailed to you upon completion. This report will outline deficiencies found during the survey and recommended corrective actions. The survey should take approximately one hour.
