The Weston Department of Public Works continued to fulfill its mission to construct and maintain the physical infrastructure that provides for the public's health and safety, to protect the environment, and to enhance the quality of life and ensure that Weston continues to be a desirable place in which to live and conduct business. The following is the weekly report, by division:

2022 Roadway Reconstruction Program

Utility work needs to be appropriately coordinated and completed, the following roads are expected to be worked on this construction season.   Also note the gas main work being completed by National Grid in the utility work section below:

Round 2 (July/August/September timeframe)

1.Merriam Street (Westland Road to Silver Hill Road) Including Sidewalk in this area as well… Installation of sidewalk pavement first course completed including the remainder of the driveway aprons.  Structure adjustments completed.  The current schedule calls for the top course of roadway pavement to be installed the week of September 26th .  Activities to follow will be top course of sidewalk pavement to be installed, loaming and seeding operations.  There is still one double pole that the DPW has been coordinating with Eversource and others to have removed….it was to be removed the week of September 19th.

2,Hallet Hill Road –  The current schedule calls for the top course of roadway pavement to be installed the week of September 26th .  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations.

3.Willard Road – drainage work needed prior to reconstruction – anticipate work being started next construction season;

4.Bemis Road – Drainage work needed prior to reconstruction – anticipate work being started next construction season;

5.Longmeadow Road – Binder course of roadway pavement installed.  It is anticipated that the structures will be adjusted to grade the week of September 19th .  The current schedule calls for the top course of roadway pavement to be installed the week of September 26th .  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations;

6.Spring Road – Binder course of roadway pavement installed.  It is anticipated that the structures will be adjusted to grade the week of September 19th .  The current schedule calls for the top course of roadway pavement to be installed the week of September 26th .  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations;

7.Lantern Road – S Binder course of roadway pavement installed.  It is anticipated that the structures will be adjusted to grade the week of September 19th .  The current schedule calls for the top course of roadway pavement to be installed the week of September 26th .  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations;

8.Old Coach Road – Binder course of roadway pavement installed.  It is anticipated that the structures will be adjusted to grade the week of September 19th .  The current schedule calls for the top course of roadway pavement to be installed the week of September 26th .  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations;

Round 3  (we are anticipating that this round of paving will occur next construction season)

1.Bittersweet Road;
2.Chiltern Road;
3.Dean Road;
4.Ferndale Road;
5.Old Colony Road;
6.Columbine Road.

On the radar depending on how the season goes:

1.Hickory Road – drainage work (crossings) first;
2.Briar Lane;
3.Walnut Road (public section);

Road Cutting after Paving Moratorium
Once paving is completed on any roadway in Weston, a five-year moratorium on pavement cutting is placed on that road. This is done to protect the investment made by taxpayers. A five-year schedule of anticipated roadway reconstruction is available on the DPW's web page under Capital Improvement Projects.

Town Center Improvement Project Ongoing Work

Outstanding work – Replacement trees still outstanding (10 locations) and remaining punchlist items ongoing.
