The Weston Department of Public Works continued to fulfill its mission to construct and maintain the physical infrastructure that provides for the public's health and safety, to protect the environment, and to enhance the quality of life and ensure that Weston continues to be a desirable place in which to live and conduct business. The following is the weekly report, by division:

2022 Roadway Reconstruction Program

Utility work needs to be appropriately coordinated and completed, the following roads are expected to be worked on this construction season. Also note the gas main work being completed by National Grid in the utility work section below:

Round 2 (July/August/September timeframe)

Merriam Street (Westland Road to Silver Hill Road) Including Sidewalk in this area as well…  The top course of roadway pavement was installed.  The top course of sidewalk pavement scheduled to be installed the week of October 3rd including driveway aprons…..We envision the loaming and seeding will be installed the end of the October 2nd week or the following week.  Pavement markings and final cleanup will after seeding. 

Hallet Hill Road –  The top course of roadway pavement was installed.  The driveway apron work was installed.  Activities to follow will be loaming, seeding, and final cleanup that we envision will be the end of October 2nd week or the following week.

Willard Road – drainage work needed prior to reconstruction – anticipate work being started next construction season;

Bemis Road – Drainage work needed prior to reconstruction – anticipate work being started next construction season;

Longmeadow Road – The top course of roadway pavement was.  Driveway apron pavement was installed.  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations, and final cleanup the week of October 3rd ;

Spring Road – The top course of roadway pavement and driveway aprons were installed.  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations, and final cleanup the week of October 3rd ;

Lantern Road – The top course of roadway pavement and driveway aprons were.  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations, and final cleanup the week of October 3rd ;

Old Coach Road – The top course of roadway pavement and driveway aprons were installed.  Activities to follow will be loaming and seeding operations, and final cleanup the week of October 3rd;

Round 3  (we are anticipating that this round of paving will occur next construction season)

Bittersweet Road;

Chiltern Road;

Dean Road;

Ferndale Road;

Old Colony Road;

Columbine Road.

On the radar depending on how the season goes:

Hickory Road – drainage work (crossings) first;

Briar Lane;

Walnut Road (public section);

Road Cutting after Paving Moratorium
Once paving is completed on any roadway in Weston, a five-year moratorium on pavement cutting is placed on that road. This is done to protect the investment made by taxpayers. A five-year schedule of anticipated roadway reconstruction is available on the DPW's web page under Capital Improvement Projects.
Town Center Improvement Project Ongoing Work

Outstanding work – Replacement trees still outstanding (10 locations) and remaining punchlist items ongoing and is scheduled to take place mid- October.
