Networking..."Mixing"...Why So Important?

Since the onset of the Pandemic, the disconnect from community has become quite noticeable, especially in the business sector.

The connections that we had pre-pandemic have sort of disappeared into thin air, and yes, it has a part in affecting our economy.

Do you remember when we went to meetings and seminars without "zoom?" I mean...in person? We made some real connections! Shaking hands, exchanging business cards - some may say business cards are archaic, but anywhere I go and talk about my business (which I do quite often, even at the grocery store!) I'm always asked, "Can I have your card?" So, there you go...business cards are still important and can only be given out...in person!

In person meetings will always be a great means of connecting. And mixers and networking events will always provide a means of first meetings.

Those are REAL connections...and those are the connections we need to cultivate again.

BRING NETWORKING EVENTS BACK!!!

The word "networking" actually means "an excellent place to meet fellow business professionals, develop business contacts, and socialize with like-minded people over good food, drinks, and entertainment."process of interacting with others to exchange information and develop professional or social contacts."...

And a "mixer" is... "an excellent place to meet fellow business professionals, develop business contacts, and socialize with like-minded people over good food, drinks, and entertainment."

I say that we need to bring the live networking events back, like the ones we have every month with our Chamber. Here's an example of why networking events are so important... businesses are suffering under the weight of trying to fill empty positions. Attendance at a networking event would definitely help to find good employees!

Or what if you changed locations? Don't attend any old mixer...go to a business mixer! There you'll kill two birds with one stone! You're connecting with business and pleasure all at the same time!

Bottom line...don't miss these chances when they become available to you! Check with your local Chamber to find and connect with businesses and opportunities for friendships as well!

Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th. Every registered voter has already been sent ballots in the mail...if you prefer, you can make it easy and just mail it back! Or, you can go traditional and visit to your local polling place to cast your vote.

Whichever you prefer, please don't waste this precious right!
