JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The public is invited to attend free outdoor civics presentations at the Stutsman County Courthouse State Historic Site, 504 Third Ave. SE, Jamestown. Those attending are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair as seating will not be provided. In the event of inclement weather, the events will be moved indoors.

Aug. 6 "Civics and the Law: Sheriff Chad Kaiser," 1 p.m. Sheriff Kaiser will talk about how the sheriff’s department enforces the law and serves the citizens of Stutsman County.

Aug. 20 "Civics and the Law: Jamestown Police Detective," 1 p.m. Join us as a police detective discusses day-to-day activities and how those relate to his civic duties.

Built in 1883, the historic Stutsman County Courthouse in Jamestown is home to a unique hands-on exhibit about civics and local government. It is North Dakota's oldest surviving courthouse and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 

The Stutsman County Courthouse is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
