Charleston, WV - The West Virginia State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) is conducting a survey to receive comments regarding the current comprehensive historic preservation plan and ideas for the future of statewide historic preservation efforts in the state from 2025 to 2030. Every five years this plan is reviewed, revised, and updated to reflect the needs of West Virginia’s historic resources.

Input from the survey as well as public meetings will be used to draft a new plan, which will be finalized and approved by the National Park Service in fall of 2024. The questionnaire is available on the SHPO website, or paper copies can be requested by calling (304) 558-0240. If you’re interested in participating in one of these meetings, they will be part of a regularly scheduled Historic Landmarks Commission meeting in each location. Check the SHPO website for updates on meeting dates, times, and locations.
