Travel Photography By Michael Paxton On Display At Bernardsville Library

Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to announce that photographs by Basking Ridge resident Michael Paxton will be on display in the Community Room during the month of January.

Mr. Paxton took up photography after a 37-year career in marketing and advertising.  The photographs in the Library exhibition were taken on visits to Mexico, Peru, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, Botswana, South Africa, and the Dominica and Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean.  Also included are shots taken at Keeneland Racetrack in Kentucky, the local Far Hills equestrian scene, and in Manhattan.

Mr. Paxton’s goal with this exhibit is to bring colorful and exotic images as a brief visual escape from winter.  "Whereas photography began as an adjunct to travel, it now governs my travel plans," he said,  "It's an absorbing hobby because it involves pre-planning, the photography itself and post-production.  'Travel Photography' is a catchall description for my work.  I shoot pictures of people, animals, nature, sports and cityscapes in interesting locations."

With no background shooting film, Mr. Paxton bought himself a digital Nikon D2x camera as a retirement present.  He recommends taking advantage of 'photo treks' where the opportunity to learn from professionals is offered.  Two images in his show have been published in R. Crusoe & Son Unusual Journey brochures.

Opening Reception: Sunday, January 10 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm
