This train's power consisted of one of a handfull of surviving StL&H SD40-2's along with an IC&E SD40-2 "City of Byron" and a CSX C40-8W on the point. The engines started moving after about 6 minutes to hook up with there set of cars to be left ready to back into Motiva later that night or early in the morning. Train: CSX K649??? I caught CSX #4429 & #4415 pulling tankers thru the Carteret NJ Secondary. Istead of pulling approx. 70 to 85 tankers this one was way shorter. 1 Hopper & 12 Tankers. Although 6 tankers were Ethanol (1987) the other 6 were mixed with the following DOT Placard numbers. (1219 Flamable/Butyl Alcohol) ~ (1993 Flamable/Diesel Fuel - Fuel Oil) & (3082 Hazardous Waste Liquid/Trifluralin/Naphthalen). 99% of what comes thru there is (1987) Ethanol.
