Squeeze' Difford to perform at library
category:Schools and Libraries posted:May 9th, 2008Chris Difford, UK songwriter and founding member of the rock-band Squeeze, will appear at the Toms River branch (101 Washington St) of the Ocean County Library 7 p.m. Saturday May 17 for a special show of old favorites and songs from his new solo album, “The Last Temptation of Chris.”
“The Last Temptation of Chris,” Difford’s first album of new songs in five years, was co-written with Boo Hewerdine. In true Difford style the songs tackle a wide array of subjects including being a good father, vasectomy reversal, and money.
To fans of British pop music, Chris Difford needs no introduction. As one-half of the songwriting team behind Squeeze, he is responsible for of some of the most-loved music of the early 80s. Their albums "Cool For Cats," "Argybargy," and "East Side Story" were best sellers in the
Since releasing those albums he has collaborated on songs with stars such as Elton John and Bryan Ferry, legendary Motown songwriter/producer Lamont Dozier, Marti Pellow and Hi Records mastermind Willie Mitchell.
He wrote the lyrics for "Still Crazy," a 2002 musical comedy about the comeback of a 70s rock band. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe and won him the prestigious Ivor Novello award.
