United Church of Angel Fire (UCAF) embodies an exciting ecumenical
vision. UCAF is a multi-denominational congregation of about 265
members that relates to four denominations. About half of the
members are full-time residents and half are associate members who
reside in the Moreno Valley part of the year. In general, most
associate members participate during the summer months. Average
worship attendance is 94, but summer worship attendance averages
136, including an average of 26 visitors. Church school attendance
by youth and adults averages 15-20. A denominational breakdown of
membership shows: Presbyterians 25%, Methodists 27%, Disciples of
Christ 15%, United Church of Christ 1%, and other 32%. More than a
dozen denominations are represented.

Our bylaws state that "the mission of United Church of Angel
Fire is to provide a center for Christian, spiritual learning
and sharing where all people are welcome. Christian activities
for children, youth, and adults, and community service to those
in need are important goals.

Highlights of outreach activities include (1) sponsoring and
housing a free medical facility (Jeffrey G. Loving Open Arms
Medical Facility, (2) providing extensive financial and
logistic support of the ALMS hunger ministry of the local
Lutheran church, and (3) encouraging active community use of
the church building for educational and cultural activities.

The Church participated in the U.S. Congregational Life Survey
conducted by the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2001. Survey
results for the congregation confirmed that UCAF is helping its
members grow in faith and live fulfilling lives and that its
members experience a very strong sense of belonging to the
congregation. The survey showed the average age of UCAF's
members to be 62, that women outnumber men at UCAF, and that 80
per cent of members are college graduates or attended college.
More than 80 per cent of the congregation expressed "excitement
about our congregation's future," and nearly 90 per cent
expressed a commitment to the "vision, goals, or direction" of
the church.

UCAF is focused on ensuring that the congregation meets the
spiritual and other needs of the members, while fulfilling Jesus'
mandate to serve neighbors, community, and world.

In all these visions and ventures, we ask God to lead us to be
"Divine Love In Action."
