The Sippy Cups to Perform At The Egg

The Sippy Cups will perform at The Egg as part of the Family Wonders series. The Sippy Cups were formed at a 2004 community fundraiser, just three musical dads playing kid-friendly takes on Nirvana and Syd Barrett tunes. Five years later, they've performed their sophisticated (and cool-parent-approved) kids' music at major concert halls and rock festivals, including the Austin City Limits Festival and Lollapalooza.
The Sippy Cups continue to tour the country with their spectacular live show, which includes such wonders as giant balloons, confetti cannons, aerialists and costumed characters, bringing the songs to vivid, colorful life.
The group’s music is inspired by the world of creativity inhabited by their children. Several of the band members work in schools throughout California teaching the core values associated with music. The artists guide parents into making music with their children, teach school groups how to resolve their conflicts non-violently, and educate and entertain school children about the wonders of our environment and how to keep it alive for their children.
All six members of The Sippy Cups share extremely eclectic tastes in music. While the idea for the band was inspired by their children, their music was influenced by artists such as Radiohead, The Talking Heads, Neil Young, Yes, Cyndi Lauper, and many more.
Juggler/performer Zack Bernstein will also appear with The Sippy Cups on the Time Machine 2009 Tour. In his native San Francisco, Mr. Bernstein teaches at the SF Circus Center, performs with Scott Wells and Dancers, and works at the SFMOMA. In 1997, he co-founded the performance group Capacitor, touring on the university circuit and abroad in Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Closer to home, Mr. Bernstein has appeared as featured guest artist for KQED-FM, BMW Films, Jane's Addiction, the Flying Karamazov Brothers, Earth Circus, and the New Pickle Circus.
