Grand Prix New York Racing, LLC Celebrates Grand Opening

category:Business and Professional posted:January 31st, 2008
On January 17, local VIPs and dignitaries were on hand for the grand opening of the new, 120,000-square-foot indoor corporate event and recreational kart racing facility known as Grand Prix New York Racing, LLC (GPNY). The new venue is designed to provide companies and organizations in the New York Metro-area with a unique alternative for team-building exercises, offsite outings, and corporate meetings and conferences. GPNY already has several private functions booked before it opens its doors to the general public on February 12.

The facility was inaugurated when Mount Kisco Mayor, J. Michael Cindrich, driving one of the facility’s 55 Sodi RX7 gasoline-powered karts, burst through an unfurled banner — GPNY’s unique version of a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Following Cindrich in their karts were State Representative, Adam T. Bradley; Westchester County Executive, Andrew J. Spano; Westchester County Director of Economic Development, Sal Carrera; Westchester County Director of Tourism, Kim Sinistore; Westchester County Deputy Director of Tourism, Michael J. Lavery; and Mount Kisco Trustee, Peter Grunthal.

Mayor Cindrich led the five-lap race on one of GPNY’s two quarter-mile-long, asphalt-paved tracks. After removing his helmet, head sock, and neck brace, he addressed GPNY’s Management team and the crowd of approximately 75 guests in his royal blue Grand Prix New York racing suit.

“I’m very excited,” Mayor Cindrich said. “We’ve collaborated on making this a state-of-the-art facility. We’re going to be here to help you through the growing process. We wish you the best of luck.”

“This has been six years in the making,” said Sy Aryeh, Managing Member of GPNY. “We look forward to being able to present a very additive product to Westchester and Mount Kisco. I’m happy to say we’re booked out two to three months already.” Mr. Aryeh was joined by his business partners, President Yury Lyalko; Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Nat Mundy; and Racing Director, Ari Gatoff.

“This is a great measure,” said County Executive Spano. “This is so unique, not only for Mount Kisco, but for the whole county. I tell you, I’m definitely coming back.”

Mr. Carrera, Director of Economic Development, added, “There’s nothing like this. We have hotels and conference centers, but this takes the cake.”

“It’s [GPNY] great for meetings and conferences…a great multi-use venue,” said Ms. Sinistore. “But it’s also a sport. It’s fun. It’s stress-relieving. And remember, women, we can do it all as well. Please, spread the word.”

For the occasion, the GPNY lobby was adorned with high performance automobiles supplied by Lotus of Greenwich in Greenwich, Conn. Food and drinks were supplied by Restaurateurs Jason Apfelbaum and Lance Root, who will operate GPNY’s restaurant, “Fuel,” which is slated to open March 1 and will serve delicious, freshly prepared American cuisine. Apfelbaum and Root will also operate GPNY’s in-house catering service for events and functions.

In addition to its two racetracks, GPNY provides exhibit spaces, a gaming room, lounges, dining rooms, and eight conference rooms. The conference rooms can be kept separate or combined into two larger rooms and are equipped with the latest audio/visual equipment ― including built-in HD-LCD screens; CD, DVD, and stereo sound; wireless microphones; and cable television. High-speed wireless service is available everywhere in the facility.

Currently, GPNY has booked 35 events between now and March, including the Northern Westchester Hospital Grand Prix Ball, which has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 8.

With in-house event planners, GPNY assists organizations with events that will suit them best. These include team-building programs that help corporate employees communicate more effectively while under pressure and improve their problem solving skills; social events such as fundraisers, holiday parties, galas, and other functions; as well as racing events such as endurance racing and time trials, to name only a few. The facility can accommodate up to 1,200 patrons for any given event.
