Exhibition: Reflections on Home, Hearth, Memory and Loss

Reflections on Home, Hearth, Memory and Loss, brings together the work of several artists, and their contributions to the personal and universal concepts of safe havens, personal space and comfort zones. Each of these terms define a psychological region or behavioral state within which one operates in an anxiety-free or neutral state-of-mind. Often these feelings are associated with the familiar, constant or steady associations to home, family, kinship and recurring tradition. This type of mental conditioning causes a person to create and operate false boundaries, creating an unfounded sense of security. This domain or personal territory is not infallible and, at times, can and will be breached thus creating the “uncomfortable zone.” Whether this removal of sanctuary is voluntary or involuntary, its affects and lingering residuals are immediately apparent.
