Emily Keating Appointed Director Of Education Programs At The Jacob Burns Film Center

Pleasantville, NY - Emily Keating of Ossining has been appointed Director of Education Programs at the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC). Keating will be responsible for overseeing all education programs and personnel, including five staff and fifteen faculty members at the JBFC’s Media Arts Lab, which is located down the street from the Film Center. The Lab, a state-of-the-art 27,000 square foot facility, opened in early December and the first semester of courses will begin in January 2009.

Keating has been with the Film Center since 2001, as Education Administrator and then as Associate Director of Education Programs. She has served as a liaison between the Film Center and the numerous schools and teachers that participate in its education programs and has been at the forefront of the development and coordination of distinctive 21st century visual literacy programs at the Media Arts Lab.

Prior to joining the JBFC Keating worked in the Communications Department at the Westchester Arts Council in White Plains, New York. She grew up in Larchmont, New York and graduated in 2000 from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a B.A. in English Language and Literature with a focus in Film Studies. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Arts and Humanities Education at New York University’s Steinhardt School of Education.
