Teresa Sullivan of Syracuse will be honored at YWCA’s Day of Commitment Luncheon

category:Business and Professional posted:April 20th, 2009

Teresa Sullivan of Syracuse loves children.  Her work as a nurse at Toomey Residential & Community Services has a direct affect in raising the quality of the care delivered.

Though her training of staff and foster parents, the awareness and sensitivity of the cultural differences and preferences of children from extremely varied cultures are enhanced and embraced.

Teresa Sullivan of Syracuse has had a recent brush with greatness.  One of the children she helped integrate into foster care through her work with the Unoccupied Refugee Minor Program, Lopez Lemong, recently competed for the United States in the Olympics in China.

“It was so exciting to see him work on his dream,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan is being honored for her commitment to end racism, promote diversity and empower women with a YWCA Diversity Achievers Award.  The YWCA Syracuse & Onondaga County has named 19 individuals to its 2009 Academy of Diversity Achievers.   The honorees will be recognized for their work at YWCA’s Day of Commitment Luncheon, Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Convention Center at OnCenter in Syracuse.
