Mr. William ‘Bill’ R. Cox Named Businessperson of the Year For 2008

CHARDON, OH--- The Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2008 Businessperson of the Year; Mr. William “Bill” R. Cox, of Chardon. The award will be presented to Mr. Cox at the Chamber’s 6th Annual Theater Party at the Geauga Lyric Theater on Friday, March 13, 2009.

When Bill Cox moved to Chardon in 2002, he brought his business, Cox-Consulting, Inc., with him. Cox-Consulting is an Internet Development Company through which Bill manages the creation of web sites and web applications. His clients include local businesses as well as large publishing companies and national real estate clients. He also owns Collector’s Network Inc., which builds and maintains collectibles web sites.

In July 2008, Bill opened a $500k family entertainment facility in Chardon, Chip’s Clubhouse. He shares management responsibilities of the staff and business and directs the General Manager to locate opportunities to work with local businesses and encourage community involvement. The first summer was a tremendous success as there were over 13,000 visitors to Chip’s.

Thanks to these businesses, Bill is able to employ thirteen full and part-time employees and expects to add more staff in 2009. With his positive exposure and success with Chip’s Clubhouse, Bill, who holds a BA in Fine Arts from Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachusetts, is working with the Geauga Lyric Theatre Guild to help conceive and develop a new fine arts facility in Chardon.

The Businessperson of the Year Award is the Chamber’s premier honor to acknowledge excellence and provide community recognition for outstanding business achievements. Selection criteria are based on the demonstration of the highest business, professional and ethical standards.
