In 2006, Chicke Fitzgerald, CEO of travel consulting firm Solutionz Group International, from Tampa, FL received a call to inform her that her niece got into a serious accident while vacationing in Wyoming. Fitzgerald, a seasoned traveler, dropped everything and immediately began booking her travel. To her surprise, she ended up having to research several web-sites including the hospitals to get the address, airline, car rental, hotels (trying to figure out which ones are close to the hospitals) and then get directions to the hospital. Booking this trip under stress was not easy. She successfully made the trip and fortunately, her niece recovered.

Upon her arrival, Fitzgerald was motivated to launch a new company to meet the needs of other people who experience the same frustrations she went through. Hotelsbyhospitals.com was launched in June 2007. The site caters to two groups, the general public and to hospitals/clinics. The name is easy to remember and anyone can complete all his or her travel booking on one site. Michael, Chicke’s husband who is President says it best “It’s going back to good ol’ customer service and giving people what they need with ease of use, and knowing that you just got a good deal.”

Hotelsbyhospitals.com uses World Choice Travel, a division of Travelocity.com. “So people can be assured that they are getting good rates.” says Fitzgerald.  The system has a listing of all hospitals and some clinics in the US. The consumer simply goes on our site, type in the name of the hospital and city and voila- A listing of hotels will appear based on the number of miles from the hospital and people can choose based on their preferences.

Each hospital or clinic has it’s own URL.  Big hospitals usually have their own lodging and concierge services but the mid to small hospital could simply upload our logo and hyperlink to their own URL and offer this service to their patients and their families at no cost, that’s right for FREE. There are no gimmicks and no fees posted somewhere down the road. Each hospital/clinic has their own URL that can be customized with their logo and short description of their choice.

This service is good for trauma patients and their families, new mothers, plastic surgery customers and even parents who travel to adopt a child.
