Mission:

First Presbyterian was founded in 1886 as a congregation of ordinary human beings who struggle: As individual Christians, as a body of believers called together to serve Jesus Christ and the Montpelier community.

The mission of First Presbyterian Church of Montpelier is to become a living expression of God's love transforming strangers into a family whose faith, witness and lifestyle reflect discipleship in Jesus Christ.

From this statement we have developed five goals as follows:

Proclaim the living Christ daily in our words and action
Reach out to and welcome new sisters and brothers into our family
Create a supportive faith community
Involve each member of our family in worship, education, mission and fellowship
Dedicate our energies and resources to serving others locally and worldwide
