5 - Week Summer Program
from:Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet category:Arts and Entertainment posted:May 21st, 2008Students begin the 5-Week Pre-Professional Summer Ballet Program by attending a Welcome Buffet and Performance by the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. The next day, students are placed in graded levels for optimum progression and advancement in training over the five-week period. Summer students take 16 or more ballet classes a week, including pointe, variations, pas de deux, modern, and men’s for those who qualify. Most students are required to take three ballet classes each weekday and one class each Saturdays during the five-week program. An evening weekday ballet class is also available, but is optional. Supplementary classes in jazz, Pilates mat, hip hop, salsa and drama are also available. Students may also earn college credit in ballet from Dickinson College. Seminars are offered throughout the program in areas pertinent to young dancers such as nutrition, injury prevention, careers in dance, physics in dance, pointe shoe care and more!
During the five-week Summer Ballet Program from June 21 through July 26, classes are also available in the Preschool Program for ages 4 to 6. Beginning Ballet classes are also available in both the Carlisle and Harrisburg studios, as are the Open Program classes for teens and adults.
