A.M.Chaffee Elementary

9 Clover Street

About Us:

Our school is truly a community of learners. Our students are preschoolers through fourth graders. Our current enrollment is 480 students.

Chaffee students, families, and staff members love to read. Our MCAS scores show that love of reading and writing. We have steadily and significantly improved our reading scores over the past three years. Our special needs students have peer buddies in regular education classes. One of our second grade classrooms has a special relationship with our community's Senior Citizens.

Chaffee students enjoy writing. We write poems and stories. Some of us even write books! Our students love to solve problems, too. We are implementing a new math program, "Everyday Math." We love science experiments and map investigations. Learning at Chaffee is work that is fun!

Our teachers are dedicated to their students and to their own learning, too. They work hard on Technology courses, Dimensions of Learning, MCAS Analysis, Curriculum Committees, Writing Courses, and school-based teams. They represent many years of experience and phenomenal amounts of advanced learning. All staff members care about everyone's safety and esteem.

Our school is known for our Don't Laugh at Me Program. We were featured with Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary who sponsors the program, in Worcester in 2001. We are all striving to make a difference in our world - to accept others and consciously work toward making the world a more peaceful place.

Members of the Chaffee School love to learn and grow in a safe and nurturing learning community.
