Art League of Henderson County

Hendersonville Operations Center, 305 Williams Street (large assembly room)

History and Mission:

The Art League of Henderson County has a membership of over one hundred artists and art lovers and is one of the oldest established art organizations in North Carolina. Membership is not restricted to Henderson County, either.

Organized May 23, 1962 and incorporated as a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation May 15, 1979, the purpose of the Art League of Henderson County (ALHC) is the promotion, development, and enjoyment of the visual arts.  Today we honor this legacy by providing financial support to local art teachers for the purchase of supplies for classrooms, awards for student artists, community outreach, exhibitions and workshops.

The Art League of Henderson County meets monthly on the second Sunday of each month (except May, when it will be the 3rd Sunday) at Opportunity House, 1411 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville. A social hour usually begins around 1:30 p.m., with the meeting starting at about 2 pm. An art-related presentation is offered following the meeting. Guests are welcome.

Each month ALHC members bring paintings which are exhibited along the hallways and in the auditorium of The Opportunity House. Members then vote for their favorite, with the winner, recognized as the Artist of the Month, and the runner up being featured in the exhibit. New exhibits can be viewed beginning the second Monday each month at The Opportunity House, 1411 Asheville Highway, Hendersonville, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibits are free and open to the public. All artwork is for sale.

The League also sponsors other exhibits and programs during the year. Please visit the different tabs for more information, schedules, our artists, and sponsors.
