Auburn Country Club has undergone renovation by golf course architect Mike Devries, an Alister Mackenzie student

The golf course at Auburn Country Club is one of the finest in Northern California. Larry Curtola built the golf course in 1960. He enhanced the already beautiful Auburn Valley by adding a challenging traditional layout that utilizes the natural setting and feel of the valley. Larry Curtola owned Diablo C. C. and Castlewood C.C. where he built the Valley Course.

The golf course also bears the influence of Mike Devries, golf course architect and student of Alister Mackenzie. Alister Mackenzie is one of the all time great golf course architects; many believe he was the best ever. Mackenzie designed and built many of the most renowned courses in the game of golf! The golf courses to his credit include Augusta National (the home of the Masters), Cypress Point, Pasatiempo, The Valley Club in Santa Barbara, and The Meadow Club. It is our sole desire to maintain the traditional design, feel and experience as we make improvements to the course.

The club members enjoy the added bonus of the abundant wildlife in this valley. The course and surrounding area is a sanctuary for many Blacktail Deer, Wild Turkey, California Valley Quail, several species of Cranes, Herons, Swans, and other migratory birds. There have been sightings of Great Horned Owls, Bald Eagles, Redtail Hawks, Fox, Wild Boar, Beavers and Otters. There are few experiences in life that feel as good as a round of golf at Auburn Country Club.
