Madison - Barrymore Theatre

2090 Atwood Avenue

The Barrymore Theatre is primarily a music venue in the beautiful city of Madison, Wisconsin. We've been operating as such since about 1988.

The Barrymore opened in 1929 as the first talking pictures movie theatre in Madison. Over the years it has gone through many changes, but we seem to really have hit our stride as a premier music venue, while also bringing in comedy acts and a wide variety of other events.

There's plenty of fun to be had on a trip to the Barrymore. Amazing local restaurants and bars are located within walking distance in the Atwood/Schenk neighborhood. We're also very close to the famous Willy St. neighborhood and a short drive or bus ride from downtown Madison and the University of Wisconsin campus.

We serve beer, wine, wine coolers, mixed drinks and shots at the theatre. We currently have 12 different beers on tap. And we're not just talking about Miller Lite or Bud Lite. We have some of the best beer Wisconsin has to offer as well as some very good brews from the rest of the country and beyond. Don't be afraid to try something new!

I've seen some wonderful acts here. Easy to find street parking when lot is full. Plus, theatre size promotes crowd interaction. Location is next to lots of food/coffee/art/shops. Makes for a great night out.

This place is definitely old school and in need of a little renovating. They may be trying to preserve all the history, but the soundboard is just in an area gutted of seats with a little caution tape strung around.

The Barrymore theater in Madison is iconic, historic even. However, it's aged though and it's not been kept up in the ways that would support top headliners. The seating in the theater is old, you can feel the framework and you sink in the middle. The carpets are bad the walls are tired and the handicap bathroom that is on the main floor doesn't engage to lock properly. Other bathrooms are in the basement, full stairs, no elevator, 3-4 stalls in the ladies. We attended for the 47th Annual Juggling Extravaganza which was a really fun show! We were thoroughly entertained! Over all this theater is now more of a community event gathering venue. Dress casual and fit in!

Madison staple. Great venue for concerts and movies. Excited to see the upgrades coming this fall/winter.

Nice little theater. Every seat is a good one. Nice that there is a bar inside
