Boy Scouts of America Troop 54

Church St., Liberty Corner, NJ
(908) 626-1268

Boy Scout of America Troop 54 of Liberty Corner, NJ, founded in 1935, welcomes boys ages 11 to 17 who are interested in camping and outdoor adventure. The troop meets weekly at 7:30pm on Thursdays during the school year at the Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church on Church St. in Bernards Township, NJ and has an overnight campout once every month, plus summer camp. Activities include hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, ice-fishing, snow shelter camping, etc. Many life skills are acquired through Troop 54's scouting programs, especially leadership, cooking and first aid.

The scouts learn "leave-no-trace" camping and gain the confidence to leave civilization for days with nothing but the packs on their backs. Some of the high adventure trips have been to Glacier National Park in Montana, the Wind River Range in Wyoming and the High Peaks Region of Adirondack State Park in New York. The troop also participates in summer camp at the BSA Camp Sabattis in the Adirondacks.

Troop 54 scouts work on BSA advancement naturally in the course of our meetings and outings. The older scouts teach skills to the younger scouts giving them experience in responsibility and leadership. By keeping scouts interested in the program through our fun outdoor experiences, many of our scouts have attained the rank of Eagle (the highest boy scout rank). Regardless of rank though, there are fun and challenges for all boys.
