Area Councils are an important and powerful force in the Boys & Girls Club Movement. They provide the chief medium through which local board volunteers come together and maximize the impact and the opportunities clubs have in their region.

The Board of Governors of Boys & Girls Clubs of America officially establishes an Area Council and designates the area in which it will function. Member clubs are represented at Area Council activities by board volunteers and their executive directors. The New Jersey Area Council is comprised of 25 Boys & Girls Club organizations serving over 85,000 youth statewide.
