About Calvary Apostolic Church
Calvary Apostolic Church is an independent Pentecostal church located in the Starks community, just 17 miles west of DeQuincy, Louisiana. Our church is easily accessible from anywhere in the Lake Charles & Golden Triangle area. Our church facilities are located on 13 acres at the corner of Hwys 12 & 109 in Starks. We are so excited to be celebrating our fourteenth year in the Starks community.
At Calvary Apostolic Church, we have one message, the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, and one ministry, the ministry He has given us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Our Story
The church was established in 1993 by a few church members and our pastor. The church was originally located up in the woods on Hwy 109 and off Lloyd Smith Cutoff. This was the little town of Duett's Eddy. Some that are familiar with Brother Verbal Bean will realize the town since that is where the late Reverend Bean used to reside and hold countless prayer meetings in the PST. Pine Sapling Thicket as he called it.
God so poured out a mighty revival in that little church, and our church began to grow both physically and spiritually. Many great men have come through C.A.C delivering us the word of the Lord. Then after God blessed us with the ten acres, we started holding old fashioned tent revival on the spot where our new church stands today.
Some people assumed that it was a fireworks tent and when they showed up they got a surprise some today haven't forgotten. As quoted from Bro. Lebouef, "It wasn't a fireworks tent, but it had the Holy Ghost fire there." Bro. Lebouef received the gift of the Holy Ghost and God has brought him a mighty long way.
God shook our little community and some people started coming and receiving the Holy Ghost that people could not believe would ever serve God. From drug abusers to just lost people, God filled them with the Holy Ghost and their lives today are so beautiful and changed.
Our streets on weekends used to be lined up and down with people partying and parked in empty store lots, fields, and closed business. They used to always make the circle. Then soon we saw that after all our tent meetings, suddenly there wasn't any more people partying on the streets. Some had come and received the Holy Ghost and the rest just didn't show up due they knew they would hear preaching along with their partying.
We at C.A.C have seen many miracles that God has performed from healing broken and bruised ankles, to shoulders out of place, and cancer.
So see, when you live for Jesus Christ, it's not just a gift you receive and that's it, but its many wondrous works in the Holy Ghost. You can see lives changed and people lost that suddenly see the light. It's a house of refuge where you can find rest for your weary mind and body. It's a place where you can come and watch all the stress of the world fall off of you. A place where you can smile and come to realize that you serve an awesome God, and you have someone that you can take all your troubles to and watch him work it out.
