About Us:

Chesney Elementary School is named in honor of Charles Brant Chesney, a fire fighter from the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services. In addition to his fulltime employment, Mr. Chesney was a volunteer firefighter and training officer with the Forsyth County Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Mr. Chesney dedicated his life to teaching children about the dangers of fire. Mr. Chesney served as a fire safety instructor and as a liaison between the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services and Gwinnett County Public Schools. In his years of service to the community, Mr. Chesney taught thousands of children fire prevention and how to survive a fire. Mr. Chesney lost his life in an apartment fire in Forsyth County in 1996.
