There are approximately 750 students at the Primary School in kindergarten through Grade 2. The educational program boasts a full-day, developmental kindergarten and an elementary foreign language program in Spanish. Through collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, CV developed a foreign language program that, through 20-minute blocks of instruction per day, provides students with the following long-term benefits: greater cultural awareness and global attitudes, improved understanding of geography and history, and increased opportunities to improve student listening and speaking skills. Also, studies show that by starting a second language study early, children develop a better understanding of language concepts, which will help them learn additional languages more easily.
