About Dalton City :

Dalton is located just off of I-75 in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Approximately 60 miles north of Atlanta and 20 miles south of Chattanooga, Dalton is rich in industry, heritage and spirit.

Better known as the 'Carpet Capital of the World', Dalton is home to the largest carpet manufacturers in the world.

Due to the boom in the floorcovering industry in the 1990's, Dalton's population has diversified with an approximate 40% Spanish speaking population. The change in population has created a more culturally diverse community with more unique restaurants, shopping and special events.

Who could describe Dalton without mentioning the railroad? Dalton is the only place in Georgia, outside of Atlanta, where two different rail lines, CSX and Norfolk-Southern, converge and run side-by-side. Rail fans come from all over the country to watch the trains in Historic Downtown Dalton. The City of Dalton is currently in the planning process for the restoration of the Norfolk-Southern depot on south Hamilton Street. Grant monies have been awarded and a committee has been formed. Potential ideas for the use of this facility include a museum.
