The City of Litchfield Fire Department is a combination department with 13 full-time firefighter/EMTs and is authorized to maintain a 45 person volunteer roster.  All of the paid firefighter/EMTs volunteer their time during their off time.  Every member of the department is dedicated in preventing fires and is committed to do whatever is necessary to reduce or eliminate the occurrence of fires in our community.  The department operates out of two fire stations. The City is divided by two very busy railroad tracks, thus the need for two stations. 

  The Fire Department operates three ambulances, two - Advanced Life Support ambulances and one Basic Life Support ambulance.  The department manages over 2,000 emergency medical calls each year.

  The Fire Department also has seventeen certified divers to provide water rescue services to the surrounding area.  The Dive Team has a very qualified Dive Master overseeing all dive and recovery operations. 

  The Fire Department also provides a medium duty rescue services.  Every member of the department is offered training in rescue operations.

  Many members of the department are members of the County-Wide Haz-Mat Team.  Montgomery County EMA Director Diane Holmes is the Director of this service.  Other Fire/EMS services provide members to the essential team.
