The McHenry Parks & Recreation Department offers athletic, preschool, youth and adult programs throughout the year. Instructional athletic programs include basketball, gymnastics, tumbling, pom pons, golf, swimming, t-ball, soccer, tennis, archery and more.  Fitness programs and yoga are also offered.

The Department offers a variety of special events throughout the year. Among these include Daddy & Daughter Date Night, Kid's Fishing Derby, Big Wheels Race, Pool & Beach Parties, Sports Equipment Resale, Preteen Jams, Halloween Hoopla and Holiday Activities.  Athletic special events consist of Men's 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, River Run & Fiesta Days Track Meet.
