Claremont Immersion School

4700 South Chesterfiel Road
703-228-2500

The new Claremont Immersion Elementary School opened in September 2003, joining Key Elementary School as Arlington's second dual language, Spanish/English immersion elementary school. The immersion programs formerly located at Abingdon and Oakridge elementary schools were moved to Claremont in 2003r.

Claremont Immersion School is a learning community where doors are opened and minds are immersed in the richness of learning in two languages, English and Spanish. Students are also immersed in extended music and art opportunities in a caring, respectful and supportive environment.

In Claremont's K-5 dual language immersion program, children learn a second language in a natural way through everyday conversation and content instruction. Students spend half of their academic day in a Spanish-language classroom learning math, science and Spanish reading/writing, and the other portion of the day learning reading, writing, social studies, music, physical education and art in English. All instructional delivery is in accordance with the Arlington Public Schools curricula. Our new school is an exciting one, filled with hope and promise for all who make up its learning community. It is Claremont Immersion School - a place where every child is given the opportunity to speak, read and write a second language.

At Claremont we live our motto:

Strive for the highest

Work to create a better world.
