Davis County Senior Services is committed to promoting the dignity, self-determination, well-being, and contribution of older persons both as individuals and within the context of their families and communities. We value people and respect their right to a quality of life. We are committed to a high level of professionalism and leadership in our work and to the community.

By becoming a volunteer you have the opportunity to assist the senior citizens of Davis County in a variety of ways.  Some of the volunteer opportunities include: friendly visiting where the volunteer would go into the senior's home and visit with them for an hour or two, help them run errands or go grocery shopping with them, participate in different hobbies that the senior has such as reading books, watching movies, go to lunch, crosswords, go for a walk, etc.  If you have a certain skill or profession, such as hair stylist, or handyman, we have opportunities where these services could be donated to help a senior in need.

Another opportunity is working in our senior activity centers working at the front desk, delivering meals on wheels meals, or helping in the kitchen.  If you have a certain skill or talent you would like to share at our senior activity centers opportunities are available for that too.

Volunteers are also needed to serve on our Senior Services Advisory Council. This group meets quarterly to advise and make recommendations to the Commission on all matters affecting adults who are 60 years and older.

Other volunteers are needed to help protect, detect, and report Medicare fraud in our Medicare Patrol program.

Our ombudsman program is looking for ombudsman volunteers to help in local long-term care facilities, and also volunteers that would like to instruct activities/games in our local long-term care facilities.

There are also seniors that need help with their yards.  This can include things such as mowing, pulling weeds, and/or trimming bushes/rose bushes, shoveling snow, etc.

If you do not want to work directly with the seniors, we have different opportunities to volunteer at Davis County Health Department.
