DightonElementary School's primary concern is the education of your children.We help all our students reach their potential in basic skills: reading, language arts, social studies, math and science.In addition, we work with each child to develop fine and gross motor skills and understand the importance of physical fitness.We encourage creative expression and an appreciation of the arts.We encourage positive values and teach students to make decisions which are in line with those values.We care about the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of every student.

Our goal is to develop positive attitudes toward learning.We encourage curiosity and independent thinking among our students.We want each child to be motivated to learn.The atmosphere we seek is one where students can learn free from ridicule or embarrassment.

We recognize that children have individual learning styles.We strive to match our instruction to individuals.In the evaluation process, we give concise descriptions of students' achievement as it relates to both their own ability and the achievement of the group.

We believe elementary education is more than academic training. We focus on making students responsible: to themselves, to others, and to the community.We foster respect for a democratic society and loyalty toward our social institutions.We operate our school on the basis of firm, yet fair, principles.We develop respect for authority.Through the cooperative effort of the school, the home, and community groups, we encourage a sense of loyalty, a respect for the school and a respect for others.
