East Hills International Studies Academy combines a standards-based instructional program with daily instruction in French language and culture. In the primary grades, students acquire proficiency in a second language naturally through song and simple vocabulary, such as greetings and colors.
The culture and people of France are explored through creative, hands-on projects. As listening and speaking skills increase, children begin to read and write in French. By the end of fifth grade, students demonstrate mastery of the French language through listening, speaking, reading and writing.
East HIlls International Studies Academy was built in the 1970s as an open-classroom school. The building provides a modern, inviting atmosphere for students, as well as an educational setting that is conducive to intellectual work. Features of the facility include:
