First United Methodist Church of Azle

200 Church Street
817-444-3323

In 1894, the local people in this area organized a church. On October 5, 1895, the United Brethren Church building was purchased for the new Methodist place of worship, thus establishing the "First Methodist Episcopal Church South", in Azle with Rev. Will Stephens as pastor, and Rev. G.S. Wyatt as Presiding Elder (now called District Superintendent). This church was part of a three point circuit, (meaning one pastor served three churches), that included Dido and Harwell's Chapel. Some time later, Peden replaced Dido and Harwell's chapel was replaced by Silver Creek.
