About us
Foothills is a growing, dynamic church in the northwest Denver metropolitan area. The heart of Foothills is to reach unchurched people right where they are, to introduce them to Jesus Christ, and to encourage them to join in the journey of a life spent in relationship with Him. Our services are informal: casual dress, contemporary music, and practical Bible teaching. Foothills desires to enable people to use what they learn, not just on Sunday but throughout the week.

Community reflects how Foothills really looks at itself. The people of Foothills are just regular folks who are living life together. This is accomplished through "Community" Groups. Every day of the week, smaller groups of people meet in homes to fellowship, to study, to pray, to encourage, to laugh, to cry, to share, to eat, to play, to... The list goes on and on. Groups can be specialized (single-parents, empty nesters, newly married, high school parents, singles) or they can be geographic. Children's and student ministries also meet during the week with special events and Bible studies. Annual all-church events also reinforce our commitment to community.

Church is not a building; it is the people in that building. Whatever building we use over the years, it is a church only when the people of Foothills gather there.

Foothills Community Church began in 1988 with the vision of being a church that meets the needs of hurting people who are looking for answers in today's world. Founding pastor Bryan Day, along with several other families, began the work during that summer, canvassing neighborhoods, asking questions and inviting the community to be a part of this new work.

Foothills had their first service in October at the Arvada Center. With a quick stop at Pomona High School, Moore Middle School became home by May of 1989. After some time of negotiations, FCC leadership leased a vacated theater and HMO, giving the church about 37,000 square feet. Located in the heart of Arvada, this full-time facility gives Foothills "a place to call home" on a 24/7 basis...something the church never had previously. From this location, the services and ministries of Foothills are provided the space needed to grow numerically and to mature spiritually.

A search was undertaken in 1996 to see what was available in the area to purchase for a future, permanent home for FCC. It seemed an impossibility, as land was so expensive. In 1997, God in His amazing generosity "gave" us 90 acres of land at 90th and Indiana. Through miraculous and sacrificial giving, the land was paid off by July of 2000—over a year ahead of schedule. God is so good! The building process is in its early stages and development of the property to its full potential is being prayerfully considered.

Today, FCC is a thriving, vital piece of God's work here on Earth. Whether you are new to the area and looking for a church home, or perhaps it's been quite awhile since you've even considered going to church, Foothills invites you to come and check us out. God is real. He would be very pleased by your investigation of Him and He challenges you to come watch Him work at Foothills Community Church.
