The Friends of Ostomates Worldwide-USA is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization providing ostomy supplies and educational materials to ostomates in need around the world.  FOW-USA collects new, surplus ostomy supplies from generous individuals and organizations in the United States and ships them to developing countries where ostomates do not have access to these vital supplies. An ostomate is a person who has a fecal or urinary diversion; an opening located on the abdomen that drains stool or urine and is collected and managed with the use of an odor proof pouching system.  The donated products are sent to folks who have no access to these types of products and without the products are destined to a poor quality of life, continued medical problems and social isolation. The donated products are sent to the FOW-USA warehouse space in the Louisville, KY, area at the donor's own expense. A team of volunteers gathers regularly at the warehouse to unpack the supplies, organize them, match the donations with needs, and repack them for shipment overseas.

We are in need of 5-6 additional volunteers to help work at the warehouse, working with the product as it comes in and helping to ship the products as the requests come in.  We have a dedicated warehouse coordinator who provides oversight to the volunteers.   5-6 hours per week would meet our needs and the work will help people who desperately need ostomy equipment.  If you are interested in the volunteer opportunity please contact the president of the Friends of Ostomates Worldwide at [email protected].  Our web site is www.fowusa.org.
